I am still looking for the father of David, Henry, John, Frances, and Nancy Jane Roberts. Their mothers name is Mary Mathews. She was born in SC in 1810 and died in Simpson, IL in 1884. This unknown Roberts was appearently born in KY in about 1801. Mary Mathews could be a last name in a second marriage, I'm not sure. Even the names of Mary's parents would help. I am looking for any information I can find regarding the Kowalsky surname in Pop County in the mid 1800's. I have managed to trace my family back to George Theodore Kowalsky and Mary Schuck(might be Schenk?) who were married in Pope County in 1886. Mary was German but George was born in Illinois according to the 1920 Census. There was a Theodore Kowalsky who married a Barbara Rexter (could be Rexer - German immigrant?) in 1856 but I haven't been able to find any other information out about them. Any help I can get to try to confirm the parenthood link or deny it would greatly be appreciated. I would also love to find the date of Theodore's death and his final resting place. |

Searching for FOX family from Pope County. These spellings may be wrong, but my grandmother spelled them this way, so I am leaving them as is, until I find out they are not spelled this way. "Peat" FOX and wife N.E., children: Nace, Nate, Jim, carl, Florida, Nora and Cuba. One other son was Henry Harry FOX b. April 10, 1874 in Bay City, Illinois and died Nov. 30, 1941 in Tilsit, Mo. "Peat" FOX's middle initial is "W". Also Carl Fox is buried in Metropolis, Illinois. R.A. FOX died Nov. 12, 1928. Time period for this FOX family is 1870-1940. Thanks, Cindy |

My GG grandfather, Thomas Walters, moved to Pope Co. in late 1860's with wife Mary Ann. He is listed on 1880 census with Daughter, Lucy J. Giffen and her husband Thomas. Lucy moved to Wolfe City, TX in late 1880's and we don't know if Thomas moved with her or stayed in Pope County, IL. He would have been in early 70's in 1885. Looking for death record. |

Does anyone know of a cemetery located on a dirt leading from Delwood, Pope Co., IL to Carrier Mills, Saline Co., IL??? This would be the possible resting place of HARVEY MORSE who died between 1886 and 1893 in Pope County. His grave would not have ahead stone, but a group of rocks set upon his grave. |
