Pat Curliss-Leiker and I are searching for Sarah MCKEEVER HAZEL. She married Edward HAZEL on April 08, 1954 in Golconda, IL Pope County. She had two sons, John William MCKEEVER b. 1847 and Daniel MCKEEVER b. 1851 when she married Edward HAZEL and we are wondering if those two boys were born out of wedlock (it probably isn't likely that TWO were born this way)but we cannot seem to find a connection to her maiden name and are wondering if it is indeed MCKEEVER or what? Her marriage certificate states that she was MISS Sarah MCKEEVER. Also if anyone has information on Daniel MCKEEVER b. 1851 please let me know. Thank you kindly, Sharon

Surnames: WARD HILL HAZEL ENSMINGER RAWLINGS ROLLINS
Submitter: Debbie McArdle (jjmcard@mc.net)
Date: 17 Jun 2001

Working on John Ward, born abt 1810, married Sarah HAZEL, daughter of Daniel HAZEL. This Sarah HAZEL first married James N. HILL in Pope County 31 March 1830, her father, Daniel HAZEL (brother to King HAZEL?) giving consent. They are of Eddyville area. James N. HILL died, after fathering 2 children with Sarah: James D. HILL and Joel D. (DECKER/DEAKER?) HILL. John and Sarah WARD are found in the 1850 Census of Pulaski County, Illinois with these 2 HILL children. Later documents show the HILL boys and my John WARD as 1/2 brothers. Found an 1838 document in Pope Co. where my John Ward was accused of loosing someone's (Rawlings/Rollins)canoe. In his defense, James Ward and Squire Ward were called to testify. I am guessing James is John's father or uncle, because of his age according to the census. I am guessing Squire WARD is a brother as he is younger and appears on the Pope County census. There is some connection between my John WARD and his sister Ann/Anna WARD to Pleasant WARD who was named Ann's guardian in Pope County in 1828 when she was 14. There was a second Pleasant WARD, named Pleasant Lewis WARD, who married Mariah ENSMINGER in 1838, Gallatin County,Illinois. Is anyone else working on this line? Have lots to share. Debbie McArdle

For a long time I have been trying to find a little more information about James Madison Webb(son of W W Webb and Matilda Moore) and Juliet Bourland(dau or David). They died around 1890-92 in Pope County, leaving 5 children, Ora, James, Lucy Bell(married Nick K. Givens), Jenny and Ruby. I do have the guardianship papers, which told me that the kids went to live with Jacob Webb, James' older brother, in Perry County. Ora married J. Sherman Lay, becoming the step mother of two sons, and also helped care for her younger siblings. So far, I don't have a thing about when or how James and Juliet died, or where they are buried. I don't have anything about Ora or Ruby. Jacob Webb(a Civil War vet.) moved to Coalinga, California with his grown children. Any ideas?
